Much needed was a coastal place my mates and I could afford that didn't bargain on style – youthful, different, and perfect for chilling.
White structures, grey aluminium fixtures, contemporary furniture, and modular design were conjuring in my mind. Individual units with little courtyards scattered between the coconut trees, maybe?

Nothing makes you hungrier than chilling by the pool. We'll keep the hunger pangs at bay with our snack menu brimming with tongue trippers. Hot butter specialties, devilled chicken, cheese toasties or club sandwiches from the poolside open pavilion café. Wash them down with the freshest juices.
Signature Sri Lankan street food will guide you to the café a few steps away. Beach-style wholesome food, koththu, rotty, sweet and savoury hoppers or fresh and simple seafood impatiently wait to conquer your appetite.
Balmy coconut trees throw their shadows on you as you pad your way on sandy tracks from room to pool. Lay back and get bronzed on the pool beds to make friends back home green with envy.
The old trains chugging on the rail track behind add a smattering of undeniable romantic charm.
A notch simpler, but it is Ceilao.
Kabalana is best known for surfing and being on the west coast it's fast to reach. Ideally located with Galle and Unavatuna to the North and Mirissa to the South. The historic sites of Galle, the touristy beach buzz of Unavatuna and the whales and dolphins of Mirissa, each one of them so different and from where we are, just a short drive away.
